From Leyte, as you to Marabut by banca through the scenic route linking Leyte and Samar, you will already feel a little bit of paradise, a feeling that endures once you are there. The site, with its subtle charm, evokes unexpectedly the land scapes of El Nido. On this area of the cost, very flat everywhere else, rocky sandstone peaks suddenly emerge covered with an abundance of tropical pandanus vegetation, cycas and ficus. this formations also extended into the shore all along the river, just before Marabut. The resort is set in a stunning natural site. A peaceful bay with tranquil waters encircle the cliffs on the edge of a white sand beach. Strange rock peaks in the form of sugar loaves make up the face of the resort. Marabut is composed of only six double bungalows but the owner plans to expand. Through this promises to be a successful undertaking, it will necessarily diminish some of the family atmosphere of the resort. It is advisable you get there before that happens. The Bungalow facing the sea, accessible through a flower-bordered alley, are only few meters from the sea. Polynesian architecture inspires these bungalow, as the former resort's manager. Mounted on piles and extended by terrace, these are vast airy due to the many wooden shutters protected mosquito nets. The materials used are local - wood, cogon and walls in plaited bamboo. The interior is simple and pleasant with high ceilings, beautiful varnished wood floors, bamboo furniture and bright reading lights. The sink is inside the room, encased in tree trunk. These is an enclosed, separate, fairly large shower.
The sunset of the resort is a wondrous spectacle of coves swathed in intense orange and soft purple gray hues, enigmatic silhouettes of looming cliffs, the stillness of the night disturbed only by the cry of the seagulls. The cliffs around Marabut are covered with wild vegetation, and only a cacao or an eagle breaks the calm of the setting. Even further on you can go up the river first aboard a bout, then by canoe and finally on foot to reach the waterfalls.
