Role of ICT in EDSA Dos

 

peoplepower2             EDSA People Power Revolution II, many or should we say most of the Filipinos today do not know what it is or what is the reason why there is EDSA People Power Revolution. EDSA People Power Revolution or (People Power) was a non-violent mass demonstration in three-day series that dictatorship Marcos installed Corazon Aquino as President in 1986. Throughout recent history, the Philippines have been one of a few nations that demonstrate unity for a call to action or social change. These campaigns social change would have not been successful if it were not for ICT. Iformation and Communication Technology have many contributions during EDSA Dos.

  During EDSA Dos many people are gathered together. President Joseph Estrada walked out of the impeachment trial.  As a result, the crowd in EDSA grew over the course of a few days through text brigades.  Information and communications technology (ICT) – the mobile information and communications technology (ICT) – the mobile
phone – was the symbol of the People Power II revolution in the Philippines.  Arguably,
the most lasting image of Ms Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s new Presidency was when, on
being asked in a news conference whether a Lt. Gen. It was the use of cellphones for “texting” rather than calls that was the most
intriguing part of People Power II and was also the key to its success.
