Cristine Reyes says conflict was a misunderstanding

The actress wasn't picking a fight with Vivian Velez like the latter alleged

10 Mar - Actress Cristine Reyes has finally spoken up about the alleged conflict between her and her "Tubig at Langis" co-star, Vivian Velez.

Previously, Velez made a surprising announcement saying that she is quitting the drama, following a falling-out with the actress. She claimed that Reyes was acting rudely towards her upon being asked to share a dressing room.

In a statement she released via her agency Viva Entertainment on 8 March, Reyes stated that she always treats her senior stars with respect and that the issue was just a misunderstanding.

Reyes claimed that it started with a dressing room that was assigned to her, which she deemed unsafe as it was being infested with mosquitoes. She was later given the master bedroom of their shooting location to become her dressing room.

Reyes said that on 3 March, the executive producer asked if Velez can share the room with her, since the senior actress' own assigned area was not ready for use just yet. Reyes immediately agreed.

The issue, she said, may have started after an incident, in which she left the room to get some air at the common area after failing to get some rest because of the commotion Velez was making inside the room.

When asked about it by the executive producer, Reyes explained the reason, although she stressed that she wasn't asking for Velez to be transferred.

But Velez was irritated when the production staff asked her to move to her original room that was by then ready for her to use. Velez reportedly blamed Reyes for the transfer and told everybody that she was being ejected from the room by the lead star.

Reyes said she tried to explain, but the message did not pull through because of the situation.

As for Velez's allegation that Reyes was provoking her by singing Avril Lavigne's "Goodbye", Reyes said that it was never intended towards the former.

"I was just trying to ease my own stress," she said.

Reyes ended her statement by apologising to everybody who got involved with the issue. She also expressed her gratitude towards those who gave her encouraging words, including her family and husband, Ali Khatibi.
