Aishwarya Rai on bringing daughter Aaradhya to Cannes every year: ‘It’s about reuniting with friends, she loves the vibe’

She continued, “It’s really just about being together. It’s familiar to her. She knows everybody here. It’s really about reuniting with friends. It’s an experience that’s so familiar to her. She’s a lot like me in that sense, we’re people’s people. It begins with that. She loves the place, she loves the vibe. We haven’t ever discussed this, but I’m sure she gets the fact that this is really a film festival, it’s about the world of cinema.”

Aishwarya said that it’s ‘wonderful’ to see that Aaradhya has a ‘respect’ for the ‘amazing world of cinema’. “I’m sure it’s all getting soaked in,” she said. Aaradhya has been attending Cannes with her mother for several years now. Aishwarya’s red carpet appearances are eagerly awaited, but her look this year drew divided response.

Aaradhya was born in 2011, and she usually accompanies her mother on trips like this. She joined Aishwarya at the premiere of Ponniyin Selvan: II in Chennai recently, where she warmly greeted Aishwarya’s co-stars, Trisha, Vikram, and Jayam Ravi.
