Luke Jickain
Luke as G in “Oh my G!”
In playing a character: Luke highlights that “you have to understand what the role meant for you”
G, was a character portrayed by Luke in ABS-CBN noontime serye Oh my G! Acting G was of course difficult for Luke it was like a series of 100 questions of how and what ifs. Like, how would He be if He is talking to someone? If G is giving advice? What would be the tone of His voice? How would he act or respond to various situations.
Definitely, all of us did not have the chance to have a face to face interaction with G. It is only our faith and through prayers that we talk to Him. Holy week or the whole Lenten celebration was a reminder that a conversation should happen.
Sophie, played by Janella Salvador was one of the lucky few in the serye who happened to be seeing G and talking to him in a social media platform or face to face. She has actual interaction with G especially when she needs to make crucial decisions in life.
G in the serye was portrayed by several actors. He is depicted to be wearing a white shirt or long sleeves with a watch on his wrist.
Oh my G! reminds us of a lot of things, such as:
- We will not be as lucky as Sophie that has a direct line with G but it reminds us of G’s never ending presence in our life
- G has a personal relationship to each of us
- When making crucial decisions in life be like Sophie, pray! And G listens!
- G wearing a watch tells us that our life is limited and we can always make the most of it
We thought that sharing this during the Easter Season is a perfect way to continue to promote the serye because of the lessons it bring to our life. Also for Luke Jickain, G was a challenging role because you only don’t just play a character but as an actor Luke highlights that “you have to understand what the role meant for you”

Luke Jickain is Mr. Sportsmanship
What is your favorite sports?
Most people don’t realize that Luke Jickain is a serious sports person. The amazing part of Luke’s interest in sports is that he is not good in only a specific or one sport but to various. This article would explore what are those sports he enjoy and play of course. Many would say if you are the jack of trade it follows that you are a master of none, but this theory remains a theory especially for Luke Jickain because he is a national player of the flag football team known as the Pilipinas Aguilas which became his sport of mastery.
We will try to describe each of the sports Luke is involved in and see a bit of history why this ramp model join this sports?
The first sports is Flag Football where Luke is part of the team Pilipinas Aguilas who will compete in Thailand this November 2014. Flag Football is a version of American football where the basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game (often called “tackle football” for contrast), but instead of tackling players to the ground, the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier (“deflagging”) to end a down.
So what are you waiting for? Calendar the game of Pilipinas Aguilas.
Another football game Luke splash into is the original America Football. In 2012, the Philippine Punishers defeated Saipan Sharks which gave the Philippines a good break in this sports. Luke played American football for San Beda College for three years.
American football is played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field 120 yards long by 53.33 yards wide with goalposts at each end. The offense attempts to advance an oval ball (the football) down the field by running with or passing it. They must advance it at least ten yards in four downs to receive a new set of four downs and continue the drive; if not, they turn over the football to the opposing team. The team with the most points at the end of a game wins.
So that makes it two types of football for Luke Jickain.
One of Luke’s latest TV appearance was with the sports teleserye Beki Boxer of the Kapatid Network. Beki Boxer is a story of a gay boxer who make it to the top of the boxing career. Luke played as Dyanggo the villain in the teleserye (read also Luke Jickain, his other characters and Dyanggo? http://goo.gl/T9yQrp)
Unlike the two football sports, boxing is a famous sport for Filipinos and around the world, thus I do not need to explain how this sports is done. Luke become interested in boxing because of his role in Beki Boxer. As Dyanggo he needs to portray a role of a professional boxing player. He underwent a rigid training program at Elorde in Golds Gym. He made boxing as his alternate for his workout routine. So that explains his well-toned body.
Another prominent Philippine sports is basketball. Luke is not a professional basketball player. For him this is just a hobby and leisure. He usually meet with his college and high school friends to play basketball as a goodwill game. He also join celebrity organized basketball games in different part of the Philippines. One of the latest out-of-town game Luke attended was in General Santos together with Derek Ramsay, Gerry Acao, & Joross Gamboa
The last sport I know Luke has a bit of start but did not pursue was… believe or not its ice skating. He was sharing his experience that when he started with ice skating his feet was even wounded because of the skating shoes. One day he just woke up and he was amazed about ice skating he tried several sessions at the ice skating area in SM megamall.
Now that is a long list of sports you can all choose from. Luke Jickain is amusing to look at as a sports enthusiast because his fashion sense is complemented in every sports he explore. He shares that he is a food lover and has a big appetite but sports is something that maintain his gorgeous and fit built.
Now choose your sports!
Luke Jickain, his other characters and Dyanggo?
Luke Jickain was described by simplymanila blogspot as a man of literally few words; Luke’s quiet and sometimes brooding persona may come off as too serious. That seems to have changed on “Boracay Bodies” as he has shown that among all the others, he had the strongest desire to understand the members of their group. During the tense moments, it was always he who acted as the peacemaker and showed a willingness to sacrifice himself in order to help his group members thus he was called the wise man.
After his famous body shot in Boracay Bodies and of course showcasing the wonderful island destination in the Philipines which is Boracay, Luke take on a new role in the character of Tommy for a miniseries entitled Misibis Bay. Another tourist destination located in Albay in Bicol Misibis Bay is a stunning private tropical hideaway built on a pristine stretch of beach.
Tommy in the miniseries is a life guard in the resort whose character started as very adherent at first but eventually turned around to become the bad guy in the story. The acting of Luke here was appreciated because from being the peacemaker in Boracay Bodies to now the total opposite for Misibis Bay. The most intriguing part the character of Luke here is his love scene with Ms. Vivian Velez who is a veteran actor in showbiz.
Talking about versatility, Luke Jickain is really serious in his craft. After Misibis Bay he has a short stint in Madam Chairman a TV series which talks about politics, friendship and family of course led by the Madam Chairman herself the megastar Ms. Sharon Cuneta. Luke’s character here is Councilor Tejada a supporter of Bebeth who is the character of Ms. Sharon Cuneta. Councilor Tejada played by Luke is outstanding in his attire with a big bow tie and always in long sleeves. Luke was even in character as Councilor Tejada when goes to events and gathering.
So that is a total of three different characters played by Luke Jickain in different shows of the Kapatid Network TV 5.
He was Luke the wise man, Tommy the good guy turned villain and Councilor Tejada a staunch supporter. But who really is Luke Jickain and who is Dyanggo mentioned in the article title?
Many of the supporters of Luke Jickain knew him as the model but only a few knew him as an actor of course his acting career is still on a long journey. Also a few people would know that he has seriously studied acting in the New York Acting School for Film and Television classes that is how serious he is with his acting craft. He is definitely known to be a hunk, sexy and good looking actor but beyond that outstanding look of Luke, he is a good friend and a humble person.
And… Dyanggo? We have to discover who Dyanggo is. This character will be definitely played by Luke Jickain for Beki Boxer the newest series in TV 5 Kapatid. The show started today March 31, 7pm Mondays to Fridays. Beki Boxer is lead by Alwyn Uytingco and Vin Abrenica.
