OPM singer Juris Fernandez shares her take on why she doesn't want to be a judge in singing contests

Being a mainstay in the Pinoy music scene for over a decade now, Juris Fernandez is more than qualified to judge a singing competition.

But the former MYMP singer doesn't see herself going through the same path as some of her colleagues Jed Madela, Moira dela Torre, Erik Santos, and Christian Bautista who ventured into being a judge on some of the country's premiere talent searches.

“Ay hindi ko alam. I cannot really say because I haven't tried it. Pero feeling ko parang ang hirap. I don't know actually how to express my opinions with other singers also but I guess it’s a good thing na ma-se-share mo din yung makakatulong ka to improve someone. May mga invitation ako dati but I think natataon nung mga panahon na yun ang liliit pa ng mga anak ko (laughs) or I was pregnant I think at that time. Parang hindi ako makapag-commit , ganyan. Pero kung titingnan ko, pag napapanuod ko sila Jed, parang ang hirap siguro ng pakiramdam na yun na you tell someone your opinion about how they sing kasi kapwa kayong singers eh, parang ganun,” she explained.

Juris, 42, became known as the vocalist of acoustic group MYMP where they gained recognition for classic song covers. She left the band in 2009, and made her mark as a solo artist with numerous hit songs most notably for TV series and films such as: “Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin” (Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, 2011), “I Will Be Here” (A Second Chance, 2015) “Your Love” (Dolce Amore, 2017) among others.
