Regine Velasquez denies dissuading husband from politics

The singer says that she is always supportive of anything that her husband does

13 Oct - Filipina songstress Regine Velasquez has debunked rumours saying that she prevented her husband from joining politics.

According to GMA Network, the 45-year-old singer, who reportedly discouraged husband Ogie Alcasid from accepting a slot in Liberal Party's senatorial slate for next year's election, stressed that she has nothing to do with the TV personality's decision.

"I am very supportive of him, and I asked him if he wants to run. Even if I don't like him doing so, I will always support him and he knows that well," said Velasquez.

She added that Alcasid made his own decision not to accept the offer, since he prefers to be a public servant instead of an official.

As a wife, said Velasquez, she would not dissuade her husband from pursuing whatever he wants.

As for herself, the 45-year-old stressed that she has no plans to endorse any candidates.
