First off I should start by saying that this is an awesome and funny anime and you should watch it if you haven’t already. This anime is about a bunch of boys in the Ouran host club who have too much time on their hands entertaining girls who also have way too much time on their hands. One day, transfer honor student Haruhi Fujioka was looking for a quiet place to study when she stumbled upon an abandoned music room. When she opened the door, there she found the host club. Haruhi (who is a she) accidentally knocked over and broke an antique vase valued 8,000,000 yen (which is about $80,000). In order to pay her debt she was forced to dress up as a boy and become a host!

The members of the Ouran High School Host Club all have different types and personalities. Here’s senior student Mitsukuni Haninozuka (picture above) also known as Honey-sempai. Honey is considered as a “boy lolita”. He is an older boy who likes cute things and due to his size, he himself is also cute. He loves sweets and his stuffed bunny, Usa-chan. Despite his cute face, Honey is easily angered when awakened from his slumber. And since the Haninozuka family have excelled in martial arts for generations, Honey is said to be the best martial arts champion in Japan. He’s usually together with his cousin and another host club member, Takashi Morinozuka.

Takashi Morinozuka, also known as Mori, is a 3rd year student at Ouran Academy and is considered as the “wild type”. Mori is usually always with his cousin and bestfriend, Honey. The Morinozuka family have served the Haninozuka family for generations. No matter what, Mori always looks out for Honey. He is a national champion in kendo and a skilled karate practitioner. His stoic and sometimes scary demeanor hides the fact that he has a peculiar connection with animals. Mori only speaks what is needed to be said and he is loyal and generous.

Kyoya Ootori is a 2nd year at Ouran Academy and is the Vice President of the Ouran Host Club. He is considered as the “cool type”. Kyoya is the true director and puppet master behind the scenes, taking care of the host club’s financial and planning aspects. As the third son of the wealthy Ootori family, he has been brought up to believe that he must surpass his two older brothers in order to take over the family business and to meet his strict father’s high expectations. He is kind of like the “Mommy” of the host club while the President is the “Daddy”. Kyoya is a calm and logical person with superior intelligence. He usually carries a book to put in data of their costumers. He can also be scary, especially when you wake him up in the mornings.

Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin are first year students at Ouran Academy. As you can probably tell, they’re identical twins and are considered as the “little devil type”. Hikaru is the oldest of the twins, but despite that, he is less mature than Kaoru when it comes to dealing with his emotions and others. The twins are perceived as mischievous troublemakers. They’re selling point in the Host Club is their “Forbidden Love,” which has them acting out as brothers in love with each other to entertain their female costumers. 

Ever since they were kids, Hikaru and Kaoru always isolate themselves from others. They’re always together in their own little world and they never let anyone in. But after joining the Host Club, they’ve started opening up bit by bit. They play this common game with their guests called “Which One is Hikaru?” The only person who’s able to answer correctly is Haruhi Fujioka. I guess that explains why they’re so attached to her.

Rene Tamaki Richard de Grantaine Suoh also known as Tamaki Suoh is a 2nd year student and the son of the Ouran Academy Chairman. He is also the co-founder and the official president of the Ouran Host Club and is known as the “princely type.” He is a enthusiastic, flamboyant, egotistical, and dramatic person who is seriously attached and in love with Haruhi. As childish as he is, he is a smart young man who can also play the piano. He cares for the host club as if they were his family and he usually calls himself the “Daddy” of the family and to Haruhi.

As a child, Tamaki grew up with his mother in France. He was forced by his strict grandmother to be separated with her by moving to Japan and to never have contact with her mother again. But despite all that, Tamaki is always smiling and livens up the Host Club with his silliness. 

Haruhi Fujioka is a highly intelligent first year at Ouran Academy. She is poor and attends the Academy on scholarship. Haruhi is considered as the “natural”. She is a straightforward person and believes that one’s gender should not define one’s personality. She displays more practical and responsible qualities and is not easily swayed by the charm of the hosts. Upon being an inexperienced host, she becomes and immediate hit with the ladies due to her conversational skills and her charming smile, thus gaining the title of the “Natural” type.

Before school started, Haruhi has long and beautiful hair but some kid from her neighborhood put gum on her hair which forced her to cut it short. She used to wear large glasses, have messy hair, and no uniform but with the help of the host club, she becomes the person who she is that charms the ladies with her kindness. She is treated like the loved “princess” by the host club.

Doesn’t this wanna make you watch it? I know I do. I feel like watching it all over again! The host club is a funny anime that shows you friendship, happiness, sadness, and some funny stuff. If you’re feeling tired, lonely, or felt like you just wanted to laugh, then the host club is a place to be! -R!n
