Mother’s Day Fruit Carving
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!
This year, I decided to carve a watermelon for a special mother that I know that lives in the nearby town of Salmon Arm. I have known her for many, many years (she’s now in her early ’90s), ever since I lived in a small town in Northern BC called Terrace, where I raised my children.
So, for this fruit creation, I carved the word “Mom,” and decorated it was some floral cutouts. Then, I put it all on a plate lined with mint from my patio garden and topped it with some fresh strawberries. I filled the watermelon basket with spheres of watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon that I scooped out.
The great thing about being able to make these fruit and vegetable carvings is that I’m able to create whatever I feel like for any special occasion!
