With inspirations from an Ilustrado and a Sangley during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines, this Barong Tagalog was born. Christened as "Crisostomo Ibarra's Destiny", this men's formal upper garment is constructed in organza fabric with a slim silhouette, centered tree pattern embroidery and scattered rhinestones from the chest. Crisostomo Ibarra is a protagonist in Dr. Jose Rizal's novel, "Noli Me Tangere". The design played with the idea of "sophistication in scarcity" and features an open mandarin v-collar replacing the traditional button-down barong tagalog. Constructed in less than 1 week, this is probably the quickest product done in my atelier, using only the available materials. An original design by couturier Angeles from the Release collection.
