Ret. Judge Esperanza Fiel Garcia: A Figure of Hope News & Articles
On August 14, 2021, the Cebu CFI Community Cooperative celebrated the 88th Birthday of Founder Ret. Judge Esperanza Fiel Garcia and the blessing ceremony was held at the new Esperanza Hall.
Over the years and under her steadfast, bold, and selfless leadership, this credit union expanded into a nationwide multi-purpose, multi-awarded, multi-billion peso cooperative.
The Esperanza Hall is gratefully named in her Honor and Memory. The ceremony was attended by the Cebu CFI Community Chairman Atty. Winston F. Garcia, President Angie Divinagracia, Vice President Farla Carolyn Garcia, CPA., Cebu CFI Coop Board of Directors, Deputy Speaker, and Congressman Atty. Pablo John Garcia, Barili Councilor Pablo John Garcia IV, Byron Garcia, CFI Employees. Distant friends and family attended the event virtually through Zoom.
The memory of Ret. Judge Esperanza Garcia still lives on in her family, friends, and the people she served as we celebrate her 88th birth anniversary today. Fondly called “Mam Inday”, she is best remembered for founding Cebu CFI Community Cooperative in 1970. True to her name, which in Spanish translates to “Hope”, she gave thousands of Filipinos the beacon of hope and financial empowerment through cooperative movement.
Judge Esperanza is also the founder of Lyceum of Cebu, located at Capitol Hills, Kalunasan, Cebu City.
Judge Esperanza has personified the strength of a woman: to be a wife and a mother, a success in her career, and public service worthy of emulation.
Happy birthday in Heaven, our beloved and respected Judge Esperanza. Your legacy will live on forever. You will always be in our hearts and minds!
