Following the death of Group B, only Lancia had a Group A eligible machine that combined pace and agility with compact dimensions and four-wheel drive. That car was the Delta HF 4WD, and few were surprised when it romped to victory in 1987, winning nine of the WRC’s 13 rounds.

The wide-body Integrale was launched in late 1987, then upgraded to 16 valves in 1989. At Frankfurt in 1991 the wraps came off the Evoluzione, while in 1993 the ultimate Integrale arrived: the Evoluzione II. Astonishingly, by the time this made its debut, the Delta had won Lancia an unprecedented six constructors’ titles in a row.

Away from the stages, the Evoluzione II was one of the most extraordinary road cars of its era. Equipped with a turbocharged 212-horsepower 1,995-cubic-centimetre twin-cam engine and four-wheel drive, in the real world the Lancia could outgun almost anything—including supercars.

Finished in Blu Scuro with beige trim, the example offered was supplied by Brunel Automobiles in France on 30 June 1994 and was subsequently sold by Ferrari dealer Charles Pozzi in late 2020. A short time later the present owner received a quote for Lancia Classiche certification.
