South African director Jamie Uys presented a unique satire showing the differences between two cultures on the African continent. When a tossed out glass Coca-Cola bottle lands amid the San tribe in the Kalahari Desert, the foreign object becomes the catalyst for unexpected conflict and strife. "The Gods Must Be Crazy" was a massive international hit in the early 1980s, but it was out of print on video for years. However, this 2004 DVD is a way to own this cult classic to watch anytime, and it includes the documentary featurette "Journey to Nyae Nyae."

Classic!
This starts out slow, like an old documentary, but then very quickly it is apparent that it really isn't. The story and characters are fun and engaging. There is partial nudity, but it is culturally appropriate. The man that plays Stein is a master of physical comedy. Love this!

You'd be crazy to NOT watch it!
This movie is one of a kind, and extremely funny. It looks at the world and the white Europeans of Africa through a Bushman's eyes. There is a scene at the beginning where the workday of the people working in a big office in a big city are shown and the narrator describes their actions from the point of view of someone who's actually describing what's REALLY going on,not the way the people perceive themselves. The "bad guys" turn out to be comically clumsy and stupid, and there are hilarious little touches all through the movie, with a decidedly British sense of humor. There are some interesting plot twists, and it all ends well. Clean humor, a glimpse into the simple but contented lives of the Bushmen and its sharp contrast with the "modern" lives of the ... One of the greatest cute plots I've ever watched.
I've been searching for this movie for years for a good price, watched it about 25 years ago and loved it. Cute story, very light and entertaining. In the extras, it shows how the main character was picked for the part and how poorly he and his people actually live. He thought he could bring some prosperity to his neighbors by doing the movie. Well worth a watch.

The Gods must be Crazy,, an old film which was hilarious , and we continued to want access to it. I feel lucky to have gotten the Cd, and plan to leave a legacy of great comedies to one of my Grandkids... Well worth the price.
