With a population of around 7,364 (according to the 2020 census), Lander is the thirteenth biggest city in Wyoming. Just miles away from Sinks Canyon and the Wind River Range, Lander is close to many amazing outdoor activities. 

Wind River Range

Located in central WY, at the foothills of the Wind River Mountain range, Lander is known for outdoor activities. According to Wind River, this range is home to many of the state's highest peaks including Gannett Peak, which is 13,804 ft (the highest mountain in Wyoming). One of the Top 10 Scenic Drives called, 'Circle the Continental Divide' includes part of the Wind River range. Dinwoody glacier (thought to be around the 4th largest glacier in the Rockies) and many other glaciers are located in the region. The Cirque of the Towers offers incredible views for hikers and climbers.

If you're looking for some family-friendly things to do in Lander, the City Park at 405 Fremont St. has a playground sure to keep the kids entertained for a while, with old western themes buildings, slides, swings, and climbing frames. Take in some history at the Museum of the American West. Lander Children's Museum offers exhibits, annual events, and workshops for children. Explore rock climbing with a Wind River climbing guide, or explore the local shops, boutique's and restaurants dotted along Main st. Luckey Pond is a small stocked pond in town, for kids and aspiring fishers. Enjoy a round of golf, or visit the Wind River Wild Horse Sanctuary.

Events in Lander

4th of July celebrations in Lander are known as some of the best in the whole state, with plentiful fireworks, a parade, and more. Riverfest, Lander Live, music jams sessions, farmers markets, Pioneer Days, Eagle Spirit Dancers, BREWFEST, and the International Climbers Fest as just a few of the events happening in the area.
