Duterte, Misuari meet in Davao City

President Rodrigo Duterte and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari met in Davao City on Monday.

Aside from Duterte and Misuari, also present at the meeting was the MNLF leader’s wife Tarhata and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.

“Meron siyang mga concerns sa Tawi-Tawi and the President promised to take it up sa Cabinet,” Go told reporters.

Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque said he is not privy to the details of the meeting.

Malacañang has yet to release a statement regarding the meeting.

Duterte and Misuari met several times over peace efforts in Mindanao. The President had also sought Misuari’s help to convince the Moro members of Congress to work on the proposed shift to federalism.

In December 2019, Duterte appointed Misuari as Special Economic Envoy on Islamic Affairs to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
