How to Raise Buster Sword Proficiency
In Crisis Core, Zack recieves the iconic Buster Sword from his mentor Angeal and becomes a symbol of his power and resolve to become a hero. On this page of IGN's Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion guide, we'll show you how to raise the Buster Sword Proficiency stat.
What is Buster Sword Proficiency?
In Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Cloud is able to enter Punisher Mode during battle. Crisis Core Reunion will allow Zack to enter a very similar Battle Stance once he receives the Buster Sword during Chapter 6. During fights he can reduce incoming damage and inflict heavier damage against his enemies, albeit more slowly.
It's worth noting, however, that your Buster Sword Proficiency stat will be capped at 95% no matter what you do before the game ends.
How to Raise Buster Sword Proficiency
After receiving the Buster Sword in Chapter 6, you can press the Attack and Dodge buttons during battle to have Zack enter Battle Stance. When you first receive the sword, your proficiency will be at 0% but you'll unlock a few abilities:
Proficiency 0%
Strong Attack: Zack will inflict a strong attack while in Battle Stance.
Enhanced Guard: Zack will automatically guard against enemy attacks and reduce their damage by 80%.
Necromose: Zack will regain a small amount of AP and MP each time he defeats an enemy.
Proficiency 23%
Damage Limit Break: Allows you to deal more than 9,999 damage with any attack or Command Materia when in Battle Stance.
Proficiency 47%
Barrier Piercing: Any Attacks or Materia abilities used in Battle Stance will break through any enemy barrier, leaving them completely vulnerable to damage.
Raising your Buster Sword Proficiency isn't as simple as just grinding. In order to raise your proficiency, you need to demonstrate that you can wield the Buster Sword well by performing the following specific actions during battle:
- Block damage from an enemy while in Battle Stance.
- Use and defeat an enemy with a Strong Attack while in Battle Stance.
- Use and defeat an enemy with a Command Materia move while in Battle Stance.
It's worth noting that your Buster Sword Proficiency will only increase between 0.2%-0.7% each time you complete one of these actions and there is a cap to how much you can raise your proficiency per fight. In each battle, you'll be capped at 0.57% so be prepared to work at this for a long time if you want to reach the maximum 95% proficiency.
