It’s been over a decade (!!) since Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens last walked the halls of East High together on screen, but the two actors are just as close today.
Case in point, Vanessa celebrated Ashley’s 35th birthday on July 2 with a sweet IG tribute, filled with adorable photos of the BFF pair, alongside an equally sweet caption. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY OG BESTIE @ashleytisdale,” the actor wrote in her caption. “Ash and I started from the bottom now we here!!! Lol but for real tho. We met on a commercial audition and our friendship took off.”
Vanessa added that in their recent adulthood years, the two High School Musical stars have been helping one another decorate and renovate each other’s houses. “Lol so happy I have your fun-loving spirit by my side in all walks of life,” she added. “I love u Ash. Always n forever ❤️❤️ happy birthday bby.” In the comments, Ashley responded to the sweet bday ‘gram, typing back: “love you best friend 💕💕💕💕.”
Since their Disney days, Vanessa and Ashley have maintained a close relationship. “She’s one of those girlfriends who will be my friend forever,” Vanessa previously said of their friendship in 2017. And in a 2016 interview with People, Ashley detailed some of their go-to activities while hanging out (or going on double dates), adding: “We’re not trying to frantically get [a picture], it just will happen organically. Sometimes we’ll be hanging out and we don’t even Snapchat or Instagram or anything, and that’s sometimes the best time because you’re just like, very present in the moment.”
In recent weeks, Ashley and Vanessa have paid homage to their East High days by recreating the “We’re All in This Together” choreography and even getting together with the entire HSM cast for a Zoom call. Once a Wildcat…always a Wildcat.
