85. The Pussycat Dolls – Stickwitu

I first heard this song when it hit no. 1 in Top of the Pops. The Pussycat Dolls performed it. And I was so blown out of my chair not because the performance was amazing but because I could not believe it was a Pussycat Dolls song.

I wasn’t really a fan then even though lead singer Nicole Scherzinger has Filipino blood. But with this song, I was turned into a Pussycat slave magically. It’s such a happy, feel-good, look-at-me-somebody-loves-me song. But after I listen to this record, I just can’t help wondering if this is really a joyful song. Never in the song, not even once, that the singer mentioned if she also loves the guy she is singing this to.

It’s always:

84. Mariah Carey – We Belong Together

I was so very missing Mariah Carey before the release of Emancipation of Mimi. Its carrier single It’s Like That was catchy, I thought, but there was something missing. When this single came out, all I could utter was “Mariah is back.” And as a big Mariah fan, it was enough for me not the forget this song.

And yeah. The song is just sooo good. Yung tipong kahit hapong-hapo ka na sa pagkanta sa videoke, trying to keep up with Mariah, go ka pa rin hanggang sa last ulit ng chorus tapos gigil na gigil ka na sa part na WHEN — YOU — LEFT — I — LOST — A — PART — OF — ME. IT’S… tas ayaw mo na. Ipapasa na yung mic sa iba. Haha.

Yeah, Beyonce and Luther Vandross covered this song. Nina and Thor also did a rendition and in all honesty, I loved it better. Hehe. And I can say that for a long period of my life, I could miserably, hopelessly, dangerously relate to this song. Eeeeeh, Yun yun eh. Ayan, naalala ko tuloy, kinilig ako bigla. Darn, nagblush ako bigla ngayon. *blushing emoticon*

Had Elliot Yamin not sung this on Idol, I wouldn’t have appreciated it. Since then, I started looking for other versions (Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble) and I just fall in love with the song more and more.

I’m not really a fan of musicals. I haven’t even seen Les Misarables. I don’t even know what it’s about. All I know is there might be some miserable characters. (WTF, haha.)

But this song haunts me.

This song is from the album “Coco.” They did not release it. It was a shame, really. I think it’s the best track. It’s just so filled with positivity and light energy and love.

There was an entire week of my life when this song was the only song I would listen to. Track on loop mode all the darn time.

I still believe that Katharine McPhee‘s sef-titled debut album was the most underrated and unappreciated record of 2007. The album was soooo good. I don’t understand why it didn’t fly.

What makes this so very unforgettable is the fact that it probably was the first modern love song that I was able to memorize by heart. Ehehehe.
