Harry Potter's Rupert Grint and his girlfriend Georgia Groome are about to become parents. The couple is expecting their first child, Grint's rep confirmed to E!. "Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time," Grint's rep said.
Grint (who played Ron) is the first of the three main Harry Potter stars to start a family. None are married yet. Emma Watson (who played Hermione) is single, while Daniel Radcliffe (who played Harry) is in a relationship with actress Erin Darke. Radcliffe and Darke first met in 2013.
Grint and Groome, who is also an actress, were first reported to be dating in 2011. The couple has kept their relationship private during their nearly 10 years together.
Grint has talked about fatherhood though. The actor expressed hope that he would start a family in the near future during a 2018 interview with The Guardian. "Turning 30 felt strange," he told the outlet in December 2018. "It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon. If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with."
