IT’S never too early for players to commit violations that result in fines.
The PBA was quick to crack the whip on erring players in the first two weeks of Season 42, slapping fines amounting to P38,000 on nine players and a coach.
NLEX slotman Enrico Villanueva bore the brunt, incurring a P15,000 penalty for three violations in their game against Alaska: two flagrant foul 1 calls, each on Carl Bryan Cruz and Marion Magat, and 'sarcastic and disrespectful on-court behavior.'
Road Warriors teammate Eman Monfort was fined P10,000 for committing an injurious contact on Cruz.
NLEX coach Yeng Guiao, hands-down the league’s leader in fines incurred, got his first penalty this season after being slapped P1,000 for his technical foul for using profane language, while star big man Asi Taulava was also fined the same amount for violating the dress code.
TNT KaTropa players were also slapped penalties with rookie Roger Pogoy paying the most with P5,000 for his “hit on an airborne player with wind-up motion.”
Teammates Kris Rosales (dress code), Harvey Carey (technical foul – second motion), and Mo Tautuaa (pointing an accusing finger toward a game official) were slapped P1,000 each.
